The beautiful Japanese garden at HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO really puts on a show across the four seasons – the breathtaking beauty of sakura cherry blossoms in the spring, summer is resplendently verdant, the colors of autumn are so striking, and in winter the snowscape is a wonder to behold. From THE GARDEN BAR one can relax, unwind and enjoy unparalleled views of the garden in the dusk, and as the light fades the scenery is gently uplit.

From Wednesday 29 April to 30 June 2026, HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO presents its Early Summer Afternoon Tea for a limited season, to be enjoyed while gazing out over the courtyard, where vivid green maples shimmer in the fresh light of early summer. Delicate sweets, crafted with seasonal melon and matcha, offer a refreshing harmony of flavours and shades of green, complemented by savouries inspired by the colours and lightness of the season.

From 1 July 2026, HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO presents a reimagined Summer Afternoon Tea, thoughtfully composed as a seasonal course in which each dish unfolds as part of a wider narrative. Centred on the theme of a Japanese summer festival, Pastry Chef Yuki Itagaki brings his distinctive, story-driven approach to life through a series of sweets, savouries and original beverages, each contributing to a singular and immersive experience.

Our martini style cocktail combined a Kyoto distilled dry gin rich in Japanese botanicals with an aged sake. This delicious concoction is presented in large glass that resembles a sakazuki sake cup and served with a garnish of seasona herbs.
