This is a list of frequently asked questions from our guests. Please have a read and let us know if you still have a query that is not covered here.
Check-in is from 3pm and we ask guests to check-out by 12pm midday.
Please let us know about your requirements when you make your reservation. If you are making your reservation on the internet, please tell us about your requirements in the comments form. Someone from the hotel will contact you to follow up on your request.
This is a service provided by our housekeeping team, who will prepare the guest room for the evening.
There is no coin-operated laundry in the hotel. The hotel does have a laundry service that hotel guests are welcome to use.
There is no convenience store in the hotel. There is a convenience store located 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel.
All of our guest rooms have high-speed internet connections, available free of charge.
Our in-room dining menu is available 24 hours a day.
Yes, our Onsen Suites come complete with an outdoor natural onsen bathing facility. Also all of our guests can reserve and make use of one of our two Private Onsen rooms during their stay.
Yes, we have seven connecting rooms. Please ask for a connecting room when making your reservation.
Yes, we have one room that has been specially designed to be wheelchair friendly.
We serve western and Japanese breakfasts at FORNI on the ground floor.
*During periods of high occupancy, we may also serve Japanese breakfast at TOKI on the ground floor.
We are sorry to say that we can only serve breakfast to guests staying at the hotel.
We do not take reservations for breakfast.

People not staying at the hotel are welcome to take lunch or dinner at our restaurants.
In order for all our guests to dine in a comfortable environment, we have instituted the following dress code:

Cancellation charges shall apply from two days prior to the day of the reservation. Charges as follows:
For cancellations two days prior to the day of the reservation: 50%
For cancellations one day prior to the day of the reservation: 70%
For cancellations on the day of the reservation: 100%
We have created a special menu for children at Italian Cuisine FORNI.
Please note that we have age restrictions at both Gastronomy Teppan TOKI and the Bar & Lounge THE GARDEN BAR, details as follows:
Gastronomy Teppan TOKI
Children aged 13 and over are welcome to dine at the teppan counter. Parties with children under the age of 13 are required to dine in our private dining room.
Bar & Lounge THE GARDEN BAR
Customers under the age of 18 are not permitted in THE GARDEN BAR after 5pm.

At HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO, the THERMAL SPRING SPA encompasses the Thermal Spring, the SPA treatments that we offer, the Private Onsen facilities and the Fitness Gym.
The Thermal Spring is a natural onsen bathing facility where bathers wear swimwear to soak in the natural hot spring waters. Other facilities include:
The THERMAL SPRING SPA is only accessible to guests staying at the hotel.
However, please note that SPA treatments can be reserved and enjoyed by people not staying at the hotel.
Any client receiving a SPA treatment may also access the Thermal Spring before or after their appointment.
We will ask you to arrive 15 minutes prior to the time of their SPA treatment, so that we can start your treatment at the appointed time. If you wish to enjoy the Thermal Spring facilities prior to your treatment, we recommend arriving 1 hour prior to your appointment time. Should you arrive after your stated appointment time, please note that your treatment may be truncated as a result, or due to the reduced time available it may not be possible to offer your chosen treatment.
We offer skin and face lotions, body milks and lotions, as well as facial cleansing lotions.
Yes, you are welcome to make a same-day reservation.
*We will do our utmost to accommodate your request, but it will depend on our availability on the day.
Yes you can. Our experienced and knowledgeable therapists will help you choose the best treatment for your body, taking into account your condition on the day.
As a rule, SPA Treatments are not offered to clients under the age of 16. Please note that any client aged under 18 wishing to receive a SPA Treatment will require the written consent of a parent or guardian. Please contact the THERMAL SPRING SPA for further information.
We require notification of any cancellation at least 24 hours prior to the time of the appointment.
If no such notification is received within 24 hours and the client does not show at the appointed time, please note that 100% of the fee will be charged.
We are happy to offer treatments to clients that have passed the first fifteen weeks of pregnancy. Please contact the THERMAL SPRING SPA for further information.
The Thermal Spring is a natural onsen bathing facility where bathers wear swimwear to soak in the natural hot spring waters.
You can access the Thermal Spring from 7am to 11pm (last entry at 10:30pm).
Please note that the Thermal Spring is a mixed bathing facility, where all bathers are required to wear swimwear to soak in the natural hot spring waters.
The Thermal Spring welcomes anyone aged 16 and over.
However, children aged 4 and over and under 16 may use the Thermal Spring between 10am and 4pm.
We have prepared a range of training equipment at the Gym, including:
Treadmills: 3 units
Cross Trainer: 3 units
Aero Bike: 3 units
SKILLBIKE: 3 units
SKILLROW: 3 units
Smith Machine: 3 units
Adjustable Bench: 3 units
Kinesis Press Station: 3 units
Kinesis High Pull Station: 3 units
You can use the Gym from 7am to 11pm (last entry at 10:30pm).
The Gym is only accessible to guests staying at the hotel.
Yes, we can prepare apparel and towels for you free of charge.
We have parking capacity for 28 vehicles.
Please note that we have a valet parking service.

*You will receive a voucher for two hours of free parking should you spend over JPY 8000 at one of our restaurants
We have a designated smoking room located on the ground floor of the hotel.
We can prepare wheelchairs for our guests. We only have a limited number available, so if possible please give advance notice of your requirements.
With the exception of seeing-eye dogs, we do not permit pets inside the hotel. We ask guests wishing to travel with their pets to use one of the pet accommodation facilities located in the vicinity of the hotel. Please ask us about these facilities when making your reservation.
