HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO is located in the heart of Kyoto – adjacent to Nijo-jo Castle on the site of the Kyoto home of the Kitake, the executive branch of the Mitsui Family–a property the family maintained for over 250 years. The tranquility and storied history of the location is reflected in each of the guest rooms.
A modern reimagining of the traditional Japanese tearoom, the 160 guest rooms feature carefully chosen natural materials elevated using artisanal skills. The bathtubs are fashioned out of stone and their generous size makes them ideal for stretching out and relaxing. Some of the suite rooms feature access to a natural onsen for bathing and relaxation, sourced from an on-site spring.

Rooms
Located in central Kyoto directly in front of Nijo Castle and featuring some 1,300m² of Japanese stroll gardens, HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO offers a range of 5 different room types to staying guests.
Many of the stone lanterns and landscape features in the gardens are artifacts from the original Mitsui home–a slice of Kyoto history. A place to experience the changing of the seasons and to enjoy fragrant flowers, the sound of water and the wind rustling leaves,
the chirruping of insects to mark the passing of time.
Accommodation Services
We have prepared a variety of different service options to make your stay with us as relaxing and as comfortable as possible.
Using carefully selected ingredients from Japan and overseas, our in-room dining options feature delicious dishes prepared by our team of chefs brought directly to your room.
Available: 7am to 10:30pm
In order for our guests to have the most comfortable and restful sleeping experience, our housekeeping staff will come and prepare the room for the evening.
Available: 5pm to 9pm
To ensure our guests enjoy a restful night of sleep and relaxation, we offer a pillow service. We offer a variety of pillows, including the Tempur pillow and a slow rebound pillow – please ask about all of the pillow options available.
We can arrange all manner of private transportation options for you, including pick-up and drop-off services.
