Christmas Course & Cake – Adding Delight to the Holy Night

This festive season, HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO once again presents our “Christmas Special Courses” at two restaurants, along with our signature Christmas cakes. Beginning December 1st, 2025, a 2.5-meter Christmas tree crafted from black pine will also grace our lobby, creating a sparkling atmosphere unique to HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO.

Surrounding the courtyard garden, our two restaurants—Innovative Kyoto French “TOKI” and Italian Cuisine “FORNI”—will offer limited-time “Christmas Special Courses,” crafted to bring brilliance to the festive night.

TOKI “Christmas Special Course”

Led by Executive Chef Tetsuya Asano—Japan’s representative for the Bocuse d’Or 2027—Innovative Kyoto French “TOKI” presents an elegant Christmas course. Beginning with foie gras and scallop appetizers, and continuing with lobster, black truffle, and other carefully selected ingredients, each dish is crafted with delicate precision to illuminate the festive night.

FORNI “Christmas Special Course”

At Italian restaurant FORNI, known for its authentic grill cuisine, indulge in a special menu created only for this season. From appetizers with tuna and caviar to lobster risotto and kiln-roasted Japanese beef fillet, every dish promises a joyful festive experience.

HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO “Original Christmas Cake”

This festive season, we present three exclusive creations, available in limited quantities.
New this year is a Shortcake—a jewel-like treasure box adorned with Kyoto-grown strawberries. Joining it are the Opera, crafted with Kyotamba black soybeans and the elegance of Hibiki Japanese whisky, and our signature Stollen, generously prepared with Kyotamba chestnuts and beloved year after year.

Kyoto Strawberry Shortcake
A festive shortcake elegantly presented in a wooden box, lavishly filled with Kyoto-grown strawberries. Beneath the berries lies fragrant vanilla cream and the pastry chef’s signature sponge, creating a harmonious trio of flavors. Wrapped in a reusable furoshiki printed with the hotel’s logo, it makes a perfect gift for someone special.

Kyotamba Black Bean Opera
The classic French Opera reimagined with black soybeans from Kyotamba. Layers of silky ganache infused with black soybean tea, buttercream enriched with roasted black soybean flour, and sponge soaked generously with Hibiki Japanese whisky create a rich harmony of flavors. Indulge in the luxurious marriage of chocolate, black soybean, and whisky.

Kyotamba Chestnut Stollen
Our original Stollen—beloved year after year—blends German tradition with the elegance of Japan. Butter-rich dough is lavishly filled with Kyotamba chestnuts, accented by the crunch of pistachios and pecans. Dried fruits soaked in mirin add a mellow aroma that harmonizes beautifully with the chestnuts, creating a uniquely Kyoto indulgence.
