5th Anniversary Original Matcha “ENISHI” - Launches November 1st, 2025 Uji Matcha × Kyoto Strawberry Afternoon Tea from December 1st, 2025

To celebrate our 5th anniversary, HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO is delighted to announce the launch of our original matcha “ENISHI”, created in collaboration with RYUOUEN, a venerable Kyoto teahouse celebrating its 150th anniversary. ENISHI will be available from November 1st, 2025. Starting from December 1st, 2025, we will serve the “Uji Matcha and Kyoto Strawberry Afternoon Tea”, featuring ENISHI along with other Uji matcha by RYUOUEN and the finest Kyoto strawberries.


Original Matcha “ENISHI” RYUOUEN × HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO

This year marks the 150th anniversary of RYUOUEN, a venerable Kyoto teahouse that has been supplying tea to HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO since its opening. In collaboration with RYUOUEN, we have created our original matcha, ENISHI. Blended with freshly harvested tea leaves from this year’s crop, this light yet profound usucha (thin tea) offers a refined balance of delicacy and depth.
The name ENISHI, symbolizing the lasting bonds between our guests and the hotel, graces this special matcha created in celebration of our 5th anniversary.

Uji Matcha & Kyoto Strawberry Afternoon Tea

Begin the Uji Matcha & Kyoto Strawberry Afternoon Tea with a bowl of our original matcha, ENISHI, whisked by the guest’s own hand. Indulge in an array of sweets and savories crafted with RYUOUEN’s fine Uji matcha and the finest Kyoto strawberries. Highlights include a delicate chestnut Mont Blanc infused with matcha, and freshly baked madeleines that perfectly harmonize the flavors of matcha and strawberry. Each creation is as visually delightful as it is flavorful.
To make the season even more special, from December 20th to 25th, we will also serve our pastry chef’s signature Christmas shortcake, beautifully crafted with Kyoto strawberries.

5th anniversary Celebration: Kuchikiri Matcha Experience

We are delighted to offer a limited-time Kuchikiri Matcha experience in celebration of our 5th anniversary. Known as the “New Year of Tea,” Kuchikiri marks the opening of tea jars in autumn, after tea leaves harvested in spring have been carefully matured for six months. This refined matcha, once cherished by Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu, is celebrated for its rich and elegant flavor.
Guests can also enjoy a tasting of our original matcha, ENISHI, alongside this special Kuchikiri Matcha, accompanied by confections crafted by our pastry chef—an exclusive chanoyu experience unique to HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO.
