This May, HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO invites you to a unique fragrance experience that embodies our brand concept—“Embracing Japan’s Beauty”—in collaboration with aroma designer Tomoko Saito.
Saito, the creative mind behind both the hotel's signature aroma and the scents used in our SPA treatments, explores the essence of fragrance by traveling across Japan and engaging deeply with its natural landscapes. Her creations, made exclusively from carefully selected, domestically sourced essential oils, offer a profound and authentic expression of Japan’s botanical richness.
Join us in SHIKI-NO-MA, one of our most exclusive spaces, for a sensory journey into the true beauty of Japanese fragrance—a moment of calm, connection, and quiet luxury.
The Bespoke Aroma Experience
A One-of-a-Kind Fragrance, Created Just for You by Tomoko Saito
In this one-on-one session with aroma designer Tomoko Saito, guests are invited to explore their inner self and create a personalized aroma that resonates with who they are today. Through intimate dialogue and careful curation, a bespoke essential oil blend is born—crafted to support and soothe you.
The final fragrance is presented with a Crystal Aroma Diffuser, created in collaboration with Japan’s esteemed glassmaker Kimura Glass and TOMOKO SAITO AROMATIQUE STUDIO—an exquisite union of craftsmanship and design.
This experience is exclusively available to guests who are either staying at the hotel or receiving a SPA treatment.
Date: May 21 & May 22, 2025 (Three sessions per day: 10:00 / 13:00 / 16:00)
Duration: Approximately 90 minutes

Capacity: Limited to 3 guests per day (1 guest per session / 3 sessions daily)

TOMOKO SAITO
Aroma Designer, TOMOKO SAITO AROMATIQUE STUDIO
Born in a family which lasts for ten generations in Kyoto. After getting experiences with some corporate life, she started pursuing her passion for creating scent. Especially the scent of sandalwood inspired her to do so. Besides producing custom scent for business enterprises in and outside of Japan, she gets quite a few art related projects such as creating scent for museums. In recent years, she has been active to expand the possibilities of scent such as producing custom scent for corporations, brands, cosmetics, cordinating with distilleries, doing marketing research and so on. Her unique style of using classic Japanese wooden scent stands out among other experts and she continues to inspire people from a wide range of generations to learn the new value of scent.
